    May 29, 2020 -- The COVID-19 pandemic has affected so many elements of our country and our world — and will affect the aviation ecosystem for years to come. Creating a workable plan for this “new normal” is crucial. Several federal agencies are putting together internal task forces, while Congress has proposed legislation enacting similar advisory groups, most notably the collaborative task force established by the Restoring Safety in the Skies Act introduced by Senators Markey (D-MA) and Blumenthal (D-CT) and supported by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA).

    The question about Postal Employees receiving hazard pay has been elevated to the Industrial Relations Department multiple times. Specifically, it has been rumored that USPS supervisors and managers are receiving hazard pay. The Postal Service has stated that supervisors and managers are not receiving hazard pay. The various supervisor organizations requested hazard pay and it was denied.

    Local 9 member and Union Pacific Signal Maintainer Dave Wright was struck by a motorist while working at a crossing in Racine, Wisconsin on April 20, 2020.  He was air lifted to Froedtert Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Local 9 has established a GoFundMe page to help raise money and messages in support for Brother Wright.

    Brothers and Sisters, The Inside Allocation vote concluded on Tuesday at 5pm with 790 total votes, or 34% of the Inside membership. Option #1 came out on top with 361 votes. Option #2 had 258 votes, and option #3 had 171 votes. The allocation is as follows: $3 to wages, $1 to pension part B, $.50 to HRA / Navia, $.35 to Health and Wellfare, $.15 to JATC.

    El Paso Police were involved in three crashes in 11 hours Friday night into Saturday morning. The first crash happened when a wrong-way driver got on I-10 heading east in the westbound lanes of traffic near Artcraft just before 11 p.m. Friday night. The driver hit a marked EPPD unit, causing a complete closure of all westbound lanes of traffic on I-10 at Redd Road. KTSM.
